The Hattian Bala District was a part of the\u00a0Muzaffarabad District until 2009 when it was made a separate district.<\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span id=\"History\" class=\"mw-headline\" style=\"color: #008000; text-decoration: underline;\">History<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>The Hattian Bala District was a part of the\u00a0Uri Tehsil\u00a0of the\u00a0Baramulla District\u00a0in\u00a0Jammu and Kashmir, following the end of the first conflict between India and Pakistan. The initial clash between India and Pakistan ended with a truce, and Hattian Bala was incorporated into the\u00a0Muzaffarabad District. The district of Hattian Bala was created in July 2009 under\u00a0Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan&#8217;s coalition government in Azad Kashmir.<\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #008000;\"><span id=\"Geography\" class=\"mw-headline\">Geography<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>There are two districts of Indian-administered\u00a0Jammu and Kashmir\u00a0bordering it on the\u00a0north\u00a0and\u00a0east, and\u00a0Bagh District\u00a0and\u00a0Muzaffarabad\u00a0on the south. It has a population of 230,529 people.<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #008000;\"><span id=\"Economy\" class=\"mw-headline\">Economy<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>The rural urban ratio is 90:10. The majority of the rural population depend on\u00a0agriculture,\u00a0livestock, and\u00a0forestry\u00a0for subsistence. Many people work or are settled abroad in the\u00a0Middle East, the\u00a0United Kingdom, and the\u00a0United States, and they support their families who they have left behind. The Hattian Bala District is primarily a hilly and mountainous region with stretches of plains along the\u00a0Jehlum River, which enters the district at the LOC point at Chakothi and continues northwest through the Jehlum Valley. Due to its fast-flowing rivers, the Hattian Bala District has great hydroelectric potential. Hydroelectric power stations are located at\u00a0Kathai, Leepa, and Sharian.
